Vampire Guards

Story: State Of Decay

Date: 1980

Costume Designer: Amy Roberts

Notes: It is believed that either four-six Vampire Guard (or Servants of the Great Vampire) costumes were used in the serial. The tunics were made from a heavyweight Khaki coloured canvas, heavily distressed, and featuring leather straps, (used for closing the tunic and holding on the arms) and 20mm metal studs held on with split pins.

The tunics were created by costumiers Bermans & Nathans for other productions, and were kept in storage until being eventually used in Doctor Who.

Costume 1

Actor: Thane Bettany (Character: Tharak)

Notes: Features heavy weathering, including artificial blood splatters. Inside are two labels. One illegible, and the other reading "EDUARDO CHIEPA" relating to other uses of the tunic.

Costume 4

Actor: Stuart Fell (Character: Roga)

Notes: Missing Arms and Studs. This tunic is the only one to display 5 studs on all panels in the torso of the body, and on the right hand side of the tunic are additional ties which allowed the costume to be reduced in size. This screen matches it worn by Stuart Fell as "Roga". "Guy Fithen" is also written on the inside, most likely relating to another production use.
